Formlabs Expands its 3D Printing Ecosystem with New Materials

Formlabs, a leading company in the 3D printing landscape, continues to innovate and introduce new materials to its ecosystem. At CES 2024, held in Las Vegas, the company unveiled its latest advancements, including a Resin Pumping System and two new materials called Polypropylene Powder and Premium Teeth Resin. These innovations have the potential to revolutionize industries ranging from dentistry to industrial manufacturing.

Improving Efficiency and Versatility

The Resin Pumping System, designed as an accessory for Formlabs printers, aims to streamline the production process. By delivering five liters of resin directly to the printer’s tank, it enables unattended printing and reduces resin costs, minimizing waste. This system operates with five-liter containers of select materials, providing a discount of at least 10% compared to traditional cartridges. Currently available for $199, the Resin Pumping System offers a cost-effective solution for continuous printing.

In addition to the Resin Pumping System, Formlabs introduced the Polypropylene Powder, expanding its selective laser sintering (SLS) portfolio. This material allows for the 3D printing of products typically made of polypropylene, such as home appliances, electronics, sports equipment, and prototypes. With the Fuse 1+ 30W 3D printers, it offers efficiency and cost-effectiveness. With a total of 45 materials available, Formlabs’ extensive selection aids in prototyping, product design, and overcoming supply chain challenges.

Revolutionizing Dental 3D Printing

Formlabs also unveiled the Premium Teeth Resin, an FDA-registered material specifically designed for dental applications. With its nano-ceramic filled composition, this material supports the production of 3D printed denture teeth and temporary full-arch implant-supported restorations. It offers lifelike aesthetics, durability, and simplified workflows, making it a game-changer in the field of dental 3D printing.

Premium Teeth Resin is a customizable material that mimics the translucency and opalescence of natural teeth, providing a personalized solution for digital dentures and temporary restorations. With exceptional aesthetics, mechanical properties, accuracy, and a simple workflow, this material enables affordable yet high-quality dental care.

“I have been thoroughly impressed with Formlabs Premium Teeth Resin. The material not only has the strength we need for denture teeth and All-on-X appliances, but it also polishes with minimal effort to reveal a natural, lifelike translucency.” – Christopher Baer, Dentist at Baer Dental

With these new materials and the Resin Pumping System, Formlabs continues to provide professionals with a comprehensive ecosystem of tools and solutions to bring their ideas to life. The company remains committed to driving the advancement of 3D printing production and meeting the diverse needs of industries like dentistry and industrial manufacturing.
